Honey and Lavender Cough Drops

The first of our experiments in cough drops. This is made with real honey that we integrated into hot sugar with a touch of lavender oil. It has the soothing effects of honey, and the sinus friendly scents of lavender. We've made this using a drop roller that says Mullane's on one side and COUGH on the other. Mullane's was a candy store that opened in Cincinnati in 1848, and that closed around 1988. We ended up with much of their equipment. We don't know if this recipe is one they used, but it came from an 1890's book on candy making.

Naturally colored thanks to the honey, no food coloring in this but made on shared equipment with nuts.
